Sister course to the equally fabulous Faldo Course in the Amendoeira resort, the O'Connor Junior course offers some excellent challenges. It lies West of Albufeira in close proximity to the historic town of Silves, famous for it's castle dating back to around 201 BCE.
Parkland Valley
Wider fairways than the Faldo Course but equally challenging with its many features. Add in to this some tricky undulating greens and you may begin to understand how the course will play. The fairways are quite open, however there is sufficient water in play to challenge your round.

The Amendoeira resort is synonymous with quality and luxury which extends to both of its Championship Courses. Playing the courses here is well worthy of your consideration when visiting the Algarve and there are often some excellent seasonal offers to take advantage of.
The O'Connor course, as can be deduced from its title, was designed by Christy O'Connor Jr. who famously beat Fred Couples in his final round of the Ryder Cup in 1989. It's true to say that not many ever thought he would accomplish this when, some fifty yards behind Couples with his tee shot, even he would have his doubts.
With a comforting word in his hear by the captain Tony Jacklin, O'Connor hit an outstanding long iron shot to within four feet of the hole. Enough to secure the Ryder Cup title, O'Connor confirmed:
''It was the greatest and most emotional moment of my professional life.''
Christy O'Connor Jr. passed away in 2016 but leaves behind a legacy here in the Algarve, the Amendoeria O'Connor course is just one of around twenty venues he successfully designed throughout Europe.
